The Capability Company has the experience, contacts and skills to develop new initiatives, organisations and partnerships, as well as providing management consultancy and support to existing organisations.
The Capability Company has been instrumental in creating two new national charities, Escaping Victimhood and Circles UK - one working to reduce offending and one working to support victims of serious crime.
Karen Morton was commissioned by Quaker Peace and Social Witness (QPSW) to consider how best to deliver support and encouragement to emerging Circles of Support and Accountability (community projects working to reduce offending). Karen recommended establishing Circles UK, and was subsequently very pleased to be invited to continue to work with QPSW and other stakeholders to build the new organisation. A successful bid for a Futurebuilders investment provided the initial financing, and two years on the Chief Executive is in post, there is a terrific team of trustees, and core funding has been secured from the Ministry of Justice.
Escaping Victimhood runs residential workshops for people at the sharp end of serious crime, particularly those bereaved by murder. Karen was commissioned to take it forward from its earliest stage. This involved developing the model, creating a charitable company, and positioning the new organisation as a key national player in its field. It was able to recruit its first Director in September 2011 and is going from strength to strength.
